Privacy Policy

BidLens ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Cyber Edge Consulting (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, password (hashed), phone / WhatsApp number.
  • Company profile: registration number, CSD number, BBBEE level, CIDB grade, services, certifications, provinces, employee count, turnover band — all provided voluntarily during onboarding.
  • Bid activity: the tenders you bookmark, decisions you record, notes, document checklists and uploaded supporting documents.
  • Payment data: handled by Paystack; we receive a transaction reference but never see your card details.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, device type, error logs (used only to keep the service working).

2. How we use it

  • To provide tender alerts, AI scoring, eligibility reports and the bid pipeline.
  • To send transactional emails and (with consent) WhatsApp notifications.
  • To bill you and prevent fraud.
  • To improve the product (in aggregated, de-identified form).

3. How it is stored

Your data is stored in Supabase databases hosted in the EU/South Africa region. Passwords are hashed. Documents are stored in Supabase Storage with row-level security so only you (and team members you invite) can access them. We retain data for as long as your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion for backup purposes.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share it only with:

  • Supabase (hosting / database)
  • Paystack (payment processing)
  • OpenAI / model providers (only the tender content and your company profile, when you generate an AI report)
  • Email and WhatsApp delivery providers (only the message metadata required to deliver)

5. Your rights under POPIA

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct or delete it.
  • Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
